This week we are going over the concept of the impulse-momentum theorem and using it to make sure that we have a successful egg drop. The impulse-momentum theorem is used for more than just dropping eggs though.
In class we discussed how the air bag in a car uses the impulse-momentum theorem so that the change in momentum happens over a longer period of time for the person in the car. This lessens the force that is exerted on the person in the car, hopefully decreasing their injuries.
What is another way the impulse-momentum theorem is used in a real world application? Remember you must post an original comment and comment on someone else's post. As always your post is due by Sunday at 10 pm. Keep it clean and have fun:)
Welcome to physics with schramm. We will be using this blog all year to help us make real world connections with what we are learning in our class. A new blog will be posted every monday for you to answer. You must answer the main questions(s) and reply to one students post every week. You will have until 10pm on Sunday each week to complete your blog assignment. I am so excited about this school year and I can't wait to read your posts.

week 15 conservation of energy
This week we are finishing our paper roller coasters. Is your paper roller coaster working and are you going to have it finished by friday? What challenges have you encountered when making your roller coasters? When the marble is moving through the roller coaster what type of energy transformations are happening?
This is the first year that we have done the paper roller coaster project so I would like to know what you thought of the project. Are there any suggestions you have so that next year it can be even better?
Remember you must post an original comment as well as respond to someone else's comment. As always keep it clean and have fun!

WEEK 14: Conservation of Energy
This week we are discussing how energy changes form but is always conserved. This week I want you to discuss an energy transformation that occurs that you see happening in real life. It can be something that happens at school, work home, practice, etc. I want you to describe the types of energy that occur how they change form.
This week you are also starting your paper roller coaster project. I also want you to discuss how your roller coaster is coming along and what you are having trouble with or what seems to be working well. Remember you must post an original comment and comment on someone else's post. Keep it clean and have fun.
Here is the website with the roller coaster instructions and pictures.

Week 13-work, power, and energy
This week we are learning about work, power, kinetic energy, and potential energy. As you go through the week think of some places you have seen these concepts during the school day. Post a comment describing where you have seen two or more of these concepts at school. Remember to recieve full credit you must post an original comment and comment on someone elses post. Keep it clean and have fun! If you have trouble posting a comment email your comment to me at schrammisawesome@gmail.com.

Week 11 Blog
For the last few weeks you have been working on your science fair project (hopefully). What is your topic for the science fair? What are you currently doing with your science fair experiment? If you participated in science fair last year, what do you plan on doing differently this year to be more successful? As always you must answer the questions and post a comment on someone elses answer. Have fun and keep it clean:)

Week 10-Newton's Laws and Forces
This week we have been discussing forces and Newton's Laws. Forces are at work all around us and we can see this in what happens to us everyday. For this weeks blog I want you to explain how one or more of Newton's Laws happens either to you or around you during your day. Remember you must post an original comment and comment on someone elses post. As always keep it clean and have a great week!

Week 7-free fall
This week in class we have been discussing acceleration and free fall. For your assignment this week I want you to find a real world example of something in free fall. Please don't duplicate anyone's answer and, remember you must post an answer to the assignment and comment on someone elses answer. Remember keep it clean and have fun!

Week 6: Graphing
On tuesday this week we will be playing a graphing game in the LMC on the computers during class. After playing the game answer some of these questions for me. What graphs or concepts did you have difficulty with? What graphs were easier for you? What level/world did you get to in the game? What did you like the most about playing the game? Did playing the game help you understand the concept of graphing motion better? If you were absent on tuesday and would like to try the graphing game in your spare time visit the wesite www.theuniverseandmore.com. As always make an original post and comment on someone elses post and finish by 10 pm sunday.

Week 5 one dimensional motion
For the last week we have gone over the concepts of time, distance, displacement, speed and velocity. Think of something that you do in your everyday life that you can describe using two or more of these words. Remember your post must be original and you must comment on someone else's post.
Your mouse trap cars are looking good and you all did a great job making them. This is the first year I have assigned this project so I would love to know if there is anything you liked/disliked about the project and if you have any suggestions for how to do it better next year. This is optional but, I would love your feedback.

week 4 metric system
Since we have been learning basic measurement skills, I want you to think about the metric system. This week's blog post is going to be a metric system scavenger hunt! You only have to find or guesstimate one of the following measurements. Have fun, keep it clean, and remember to make an original comment and reply to someone else's post. NO DOUBLES, so you have to come up with your own item.
Something that has a mass of 5 kilograms.
A place 2 kilometers from school.
A place 50 kilometers from school.
Something with a height of 2.5 meters.
Something with a height of 4 centimeters.
Something that has a mass of 100 kilograms.
Something with the circumference of 1 meters.
Something with the length of 50 meters.
Remember, you only have to find an object for one of the measurements, not all of them.
